By now, we all know of the decision on Habeus Corpus, with the pig Scalia leading the dissent. Bush administration in "disarray" after Supreme Court slapdown on habeas
John Aravosis (DC) · 6/13/2008 10:43:00 AM ET · Link 42 Comments · reddit · FARK · Digg It! ·
Yeah, those 5-4 decisions are a real bitch, President Gore. From the Washington Post:
In the days following the Sept. 11 attacks, President Bush and his advisers sought to create an unprecedented parallel system to detain suspected terrorists far from the normal scrutiny of the U.S. judiciary. The naval base at Guantanamo Bay offered a way to indefinitely hold those individuals the administration considered among the most dangerous in the world.
But the Supreme Court's decision yesterday to grant habeas corpus rights to the detainees struck at the very core of the administration's approach, as a narrow majority ruled that even hardened suspects are due the basic right to challenge their custody in federal court. The ruling throws into disarray the administration's detention strategy, almost certainly leaving to Bush's successor and the next Congress the dilemma of what to do with the Guantanamo Bay detainees. | The Rude Pundit pretty much sums my own thoughts on the matter, so I'll let him tell it for both of us. The Rude Pundit Proudly lowering the level of political discourse
6/13/2008 Gitmo Decision Reaction on the Right: Have You Guys Read the Constitution?: So the Rude Pundit just wants to get this straight: if you think yesterday's Supreme Court decision was a pile of shit, then you believe that the United States has the right to hold foreign nationals without allowing them to challenge their imprisonment in fair, open courts. You believe that a special court with special rules of evidence and special procedures is the only means through which a presidentially-designated "alien enemy combatant" held at a United States-run facility can even say, "Umm, do you have any proof I'm anything more than a fuckin' goat herder who was wandering in the right field at the wrong time?" You believe that the Constitution and the Geneva Conventions (except in the narrowest possible interpretation) do not apply to prisoners held at Gitmo. And you're absolutely hysterical, batshit insane over the idea that a human being held without ever being told why might get to ask. |

Well, for another take down of Bush, maybe you'd be interested in this article by Congressman Dennis Kucinich.
Should this be it's own thread topic, maybe?

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

While all true, it's wishful thinking to think anything will come out of this. Perhaps Kucinich just wanted to get it into the congressional record. I dunno. I'm not sure if it even counts as a takedown of Bush, since it will be largely ignored. Sad, isn't it? |

Depends on the ruling. |
