I'm sure I've posed this elsewhere on this site, but damned if I can find it again...anyway, he's not letting my last reply get through, so I'm storing it here.
Below is my reply to his last comment. Bolded segments are from my previous reply to him that he quoted when he made his last reply to me (which I put in italics):
----- What about things that occur in sets of numbers that are not three? Like four leaf clovers? Does that mean anything? Yeesh.
Are four leaf clovers cross-shaped? Yes they are, generally. Anything with four arms likely will be. There's a point there if you can figure it out.
You may want to have a look at some pictures of laminin. You'd have to actually arrange the protein to get your cross shape.
I've seen plenty of pictures of actual laminin molecule. They all share the same basic shape, which is cross-like. By your guys' arguments, you'd think that the three proteins could be in virtually any configuration - e.g. circle, square, one long line, etc. The fact is, however, that the scientific diagram shows how they must be connected to even work they way they were designed to. Whoops! Did I say "designed?" lol!
You don't know much about scientific diagrams, do you? They are drawn so people can understand better what they're dealing with. That means that they usually alter the shape and simplify what is found in nature. Look at those pictures again.
The actual protein is a lot more bunched up and twisty than the cross was.
Some people will look for signs in anything.
True enough. But the thing is that people weren't looking for any signs in this. They stumbled across it. There's not the ones who are running around saying "it's a cross! It's a cross!" It's you.
You're not any different than the people who see things like Jesus' face on their toast!
Except the Bible doesn't say anything about toast images. It's really difficult to dismiss that this adhesion molecule is cross-shaped and the Bible states that all things hold together through Christ, who is represented by the symbol of the cross. Yeah, all things not just one protein out of countless millions!
"All things" would include inorganic matter too, you know. See any of those "crosses" in them?
Don't you think that statistically, out of the millions of proteins out there, that there'd be one that would bear a vague resemblence to the cross? ------

Could be steric hindrance too.
Many biological molecules are composed of repeated identical sub-units (for example hemoglobins or the bacterial flagella) produced by a single gene or similar sub-units issue from gene duplication.
If the extremity of these sub-units have a charge, they would tend to repel each other. With 4 sub-units, this would lead to a cross shape; because the distance (and hence the strength of the repelling) would then be identical for each sub-unit. |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Well, just to play the Devil's advocate, carbon atoms do have a valence of four, making a cross when carbon-containing molecules are seen from certain angles. Imagine that, Jesus predicted which molecule would be best suited to be found in living things. The ramifications of my discovery...

There is also the fact that a lot of the inorganic things around us don't have carbon in them at all. Yet Jesus is supposed to hold them all together, not just the organic stuff that has the quadruple valence of the carbon atom available to them.

Well, Jinx got mad at me; I posted my reply on his other blog, which he then also deleted. It seems that on his original blog, debates are not allowed.
The most current post in his "Jesusland" blog:
This isn't a debate blog. I'm not here to argue ad nauseum with atheists who have large chips on their shoulders. (And no, bringing it to my other blog won't do any good either.) This blog is about my spiritual journey and not about your personal distaste for my faith. I may publish and respond to comments if I see good reason, but most of the time I will not. Heck, I don't even check very often to see if anyone has left comments. |
I had tried posting my argument over on his "Shock and Blog" blog without checking to see that he'd updated his "Jesusland" blog.
Yeah, he was not pleased.
Reynold, first of all, don't come here and insult my faith. Second, the reason your comment didn't appear on my other blog is posted on the other blog along with a warning not to try to post comments for there here. |
My replies? I should put them here since I know he'll take these down too.
I'm not insulting your faith; I'm insulting your intelligence. |
Why? Because that argument you had on that other site is, frankly, stupid as hell.
I now start to see why the Theology Web people got sick of you. |
I should note that he didn't post that "no debate" rule on his "Jesusland" blog until way after I had tried to post my reply.

Yep, he took down my replies. And he has to get the last word...
Goodbye, *******. Jason | Homepage | 07.23.08 - 2:16 pm | # |
Yes, I edited my name out, never mind that you can see it on his site when you go there...I'm weird that way!
Well, I posted on his site again to try to set the record straight...
I'll quote myself because it won't see the light of day anywhere else:

You do realize that I had tried to post my reply in your "Jesusland" blog well before you posted that rule about it not being a debate site, right? |
I saved a copy of the "Haloscan" comment page since in a very short while, it'll be the only evidence left that I was ever there to post my last comment.
I should note that when I try to get onto his site without a proxy or having deleted my cookies first, I get redirected to a xian conversion site at CARM. Though I still can access his "haloscan" comment site.

Hey Ig, the guy's too chicken to discuss with you, so why bother? It's kind'a like talking to a dime-store window dummy, isn't it? you get to expound, perhaps even at length, but none of it gets through the plastic. And then they call security.....
