At this time, I am at my 3rd week researching on religions/non-religions who follow the End Times Doctrine, a.k.a. The End of the World Doctrine. Here's my take on this non-sense.

I think that false prophets create false prophecies, false hopes and a false sense of security. I am still wondering what the hell is up with “church” leaders coming up with dates for the “End of the World” crap. To tell you the truth, I think the End Times doctrine is bullshit. People should enjoy life as they see fit. It's all we have right now. Of course, when so-called leaders claim that (insert dates here) are the end of the world, their faithful and devoted followers would actually follow their so-called word. What do you do when your leader makes a prophecy and it does not come true? People will soon find out that after countless attempts with the dates for the End of the World, it means nothing anymore. Nothing. Not one bit. I guess that people are either suicidal for the world to end, or is it just me. I don't know, but I do know that this is getting out of hand.

Post your thoughts about the End Times Doctrine.

1. What is it about?
2. Why people fall into this doctrine?
3. Do you and/or you know someone who was following the End of The World Hysteria?

Feel free to make your response as long as you want.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

It's a cruel world...and YOU SUCK!!!!! (LAUGHTER)

All prophets are false. Every one of 'em, past & present & most likely, future. Once in a while, one or another of them might get lucky and actually predict something or other, but it is usually of small import.

Here's a site that you might find enlightening as well as amusing: It's The End Of The World As We Know It.... Again!

There are so many such predictions, that even if one of them came true(Asteroid) or such, it would be impossible to determine if was a actual prediction or a lucky guess*

*I suppose it could be an educated guess.

"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History

"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini

Christianity is a Doom religion. The world will end and we'll all be judged and sentenced to eternal punishment or joy. Nothing matters but the second coming and what we do to prepare for it. I have no idea what the appeal of that is but some people love it.
