| What a load! Kids that go "yuck" at foreign foods are not being racist; they are being kids. Evidently, the author has never raised any.

Because the site linked to in the OP includes a link to Fark, I thought this must be a joke. But UPI carried the story in their "UPI NewsTrack Quirks in the News" section (along with bits about a Walmart shopper getting snakebit, a bride whose dress fell apart, and texting replacing email). |

So what about kids who don't like native foods? This is so silly it's painful. If I don't like Tim Hortons am I an anti-Canadite? |

Or kids that do not like vegetable? Or that do not want to eat anything but yoghurt for weeks? That IS silly.
Now, I can understand the part about name calling. Young children recognizing another kid with a different skin tone and taunting him because of it.
I have seen babies being afraid of black people. But only because they are not used to it and are afraid of anything out of the ordinary. It goes away quickly. That should not be encouraged (or even tolerated), of course, but taunting should not be anyway whatever the reason... |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Carl Sagan - 1996 |

Whoa! I bet I would find The London-based National Children's Bureau folks kinda yucky... |
Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.
