Senator Sets Record Straight on Name of Czech Homeland,
Says Obama is "Soft" on the Tsar, "Weak" on Moros

Washington, DC (UPP) -- Presumed GOP presidential standard-bearer, Senator John McCain today held a press conference to "clear up some misconceptions" about his knowledge of 21st Century geography and foreign affairs.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

"I realize I have twice recently referred to 'Czechoslovakia,'" said McCain, "and I want you to all understand that this was simply an insignificant misstatement. Of course, I obviously was referring to the portion of the Austro-Hungarian Empire known as Bohemia, and I did not mean to confuse this with Moravia-Silesia, Slovakia, or with Sub-Carpathian Rus."

Bohemia.

Asked about Muslim extremism, McCain stated, "The Moro rebels are completely out of hand. We need to get some dreadnoughts underway to Moroland under full steam. Before those fanatics charge our soldiers, they tie their sashes about their waists so tight that they won't bleed out before they reach our soldiers with their barongs, even if we hit 'em with fire from light sidearms. We need to civilize 'em with Krags and Colt .45 ACPs. Senator Obama is weak, and doesn't understand this need."

Civilizing 'em.

Senator McCain launched a new attack upon his Democratic opponent, Senator Barack Obama. "Each time the Tsar of All the Russias has rattled his sabre, this so-soft Senator Obama has looked the other way. I am very concerned that Obama's proclivity to appease will cause us to lose the Territory of Alaska."

Years ago when I lived in Arizona, I recall John McCain running for Senator. I'd see his bumper sticker of course and recall it was simply his name in bold blue type over a white background with "for U.S. Senate" under it.

At the same time in Phoenix as elsewhere there was a then popular bumper sticker that read "Life is a bitch and then you die." This too was in white with bold blue type. (Having worked in print shops I can tell you it was by coincidence exactly the same bold Arial type face.

One day while driving home from work I got behind a McCain supporter who (I think) by sheer coincidence had placed their McCain bumper sticker right next to their "Bitch" sticker, in line with and very slightly over lapping it. I really don't think they realized that this instantly made the two identical looking stickers appear to be one longer bumper sticker which, with quotation marks and all, and in the same type face looked just like a campaign slogan. So there it was:

"Life is a bitch and then you die. John McCain for U.S. Senate"
