"I brought my baby to touch the wall, so that the power of Darwin can purify her genetic makeup of undesirable inherited traits," said Darlene Freiberg, one among a growing crowd assembled here to see the mysterious stain, which appeared last Monday on one side of the Rhea County Courthouse.

LMFAO! Gotta love "The Onion" |

Guess what, uncommondescent linked to the same article ("the faithful gather to worship saint Charles", 5th sep 2008 - I won't link). At least one UD reader failed to see that it was a joke. Moderator DaveScot filed the post under a new category he created - Poe's law which wikipedia defines as follows:
Poe's Law — Without a blatant display of humour, it is impossible to tell the difference between religious Fundamentalism and a parody thereof. |
There is irony here on more than one level.

DaveScot must think "Darwinists" would actually do such a thing, then. That's rich.
Hey, Kil, congrats on 6,000 posts! |

Also, it is impossible to tell whether or not the UDers really think so or if they simply take it as a joke.
Reminds me of these really annoying "comedy moments" when characters keep on asking "but did he know that I knew that he knew" and so on. |

| Heh. I hadn't notices until you pointed it out. When compared with other members over the same time period, which is since the beginning, I still have a low post count. But then, I strive for quality over quantity unlike the rest of the rabble who post on SFN.
Anyhow, thanks!! |
