I've found something that is "culture war" related (yes, I've posted this to the Ed Brayton's site. We'll see if it gets posted or not.
Xian singer Ray Bolz has come out of the closet. Well, we can start to see what the reaction of the religious right is here, and here. Note that the section under where the first linked forum has this is in: "Apostasy".

When Michelle infiltrated Operation Rescue as a spy, she knew a man with tourettes syndrome who was prayed for publicly (in church) and declared healed of his affliction by the grace of God. What broke her heart was that the guy spent his time in church from then on sitting on his hands and doing all that he could physically do to hide the fact that he still had tourettes. Admitting it meant that he had a failure of faith. And that was worse than the tourettes because, in his mind, having been indoctrinated into the ways of Christian thinking, his illness was now his fault for not believing enough.
The thing is, if Michelle could see that he was hiding his tourettes, no doubt others could see it too. But for them to deny that the healing had succeeded would have put their faith into question too.
What a cruel religion Fundamentalist Christianity is.
I wish Ray Bolz the best for having the nerve to walk away from one of the most demented sides of Christian madness...

The lack of introspection from these cultists is always what amazes me. It never so much as flits across their minds that perhaps what they have been taught about homosexuality is mistaken. They know more than anyone else on the planet about this topic. They know god's mind, after all. Sickening.

| So to me it sounds like Bolz was more of a gay man who was struggling with his Christian proclamations then a Christian who later decided he was gay. |

In regards to how the fundies are treating this Ray case, at least one guy is giving a self-righteous b***h a smack down (as much as it's possible for one fundie to smack down another on a place like that, anyway.
Of course, she doesn't take kindly to it. Of course, she does have a point. It is according to their "holy book" that they act like a$$@@@@s in times like this.

That message board is just creepy. One person writes, "I am absolutely devastated and in shock. I love his music. I don't know how I'll be able to listen to it anymore. I suppose I should focus on the lyrics and not on the singer, but still. :("

I looked at the forum that ignored linked to and many asked for prayer for Bolz. So I would say that "hate" is a bit of a stretch to lump on the entire flock. I am sure that some will spew some hate towards Bolz but to be fair all worldviews, religions, political groups etc... have their fringe nutcase loons who make up a minority.
