So asking a bank to treat applicants with "similar financial characteristics and credit histories" the same is asking a bank to make bad loans to minorities? Looks to me like it's asking a bank to treat people fairly by not including race in their criteria for lending.

The case was settled out of court, so you can't say if the plaint was justified.
Not to mention; of course, that Obama was representing 5 or so clients. Linking the whole crisis to this handful of loans is utterly ridiculous! |

So you're saying that before the suit, Citibank was in the business of making bad loans to white people? And because of the suit, they had to make even more bad loans to those pesky minorities unfairly? I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Gnome-boy just got himself banned over at the JREF forum. That I drop by for my roughly once a week read here and find an extremely obvious "behaving like an asshole just to yank peoples' chains on internet fora is my only hobby and interest in life" type with a remarkably similar style strikes me as a very unusual coincidence.
I notice that the forum linked in the OP seems to have its own equivalent to the JREF kittens and recipes tradition for troll threads- and I kinda like it. |

Who filed the complaint, caleb? I'll give you a hint: it wasn't Obama. He didn't represent any of the plaintiffs in the case until June 7th, 1995. From the case docket:MOTION by plaintiffs for leave to file the appearances of Jeffrey I. Cummings and Barrack Obama as additional attorneys ; Notice of motion. (fce) (Entered: 06/08/1995) He wasn't the lead attorney nor even an "Attorney to be Noticed." If we're going to have a money-grubbing socialist in office, I would personally prefer it be one who doesn't do it very well. Hell, in that same time period, I received more money from the U.S. taxpayers than Barack Obama got from Citibank, and all I had to do was write software. So yeah, bring on the incompetent socialist who could barely maintain a middle-class lifestyle while suing a huge bank, and got enough money from Freddie and Fannie to run his campaign for a single day. Maybe he's better at being President than he is at enriching himself off the backs of the poor. At least I won't have to hear the word "maverick" over and over again. |

Actually, Skeptical Community was started by JREF's Girl 6 back a few years ago when it looked like the JREF forums were at risk of disintegrating. |

Kil, just go to here (http://www.skepticalcommunity.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=21316) and read a few of Jerome's posts. Notice the style, the wording, the structure of his commentary, and the attacks on Obama. Do you really have any doubt that calebjones1234 is anything else than a Jerome surrogate?
I'm sure Dave or yourself has checked cj1234's computer and server and found that it is different than Jerome's, but can there be any question that Jerome is writing the text and caleb is simply posting it?

You need to get out more, bngbuck. People like Jerome and caleb are a dime a dozen on various Web forums. I'm pretty sure they're not all one guy. And if caleb is Jerome, or just posting for Jerome, or even just cut from the same wannabe-hero mold that Jerome came from, then he'll get his warnings and ouster soon enough.
Plus, I have to admit to a little bit of enjoyment at watching him flee from sound argument, or else say something totally insane. Like how he basically called shenanigans on himself in one of the physics threads, or is too cowardly to admit that donations to Obama's campaign cannot legally be used to enrich Obama's relatives. Whoever this guy is, he folds like a sweaty rookie poker player when under pressure. It's not like his ideas are any threat anyway, because they're vacuous and obviously intended for lowest-common-denominator audiences. You know he's got nothing when his fall-back position is to insult a guy's dead mother. |
