Anyone who cares about freedom of speech and law in general should be outraged at this:

I am NOT trying to invoke Godwin's law here, but it appears that the nazis actually won WWII. The irony is that the case involves holocaust denial.

Bummer. According to this, it looks like any member of the EU could demand the extradition of anyone, anywhere, for some bullshit charge and no habius corpus. What does that remind us of?
It adds weight to the hypothesis that shit often floats to the top of the political septic tank, our current president being a prime example.

As a pro-EU citizen and a (albeit somewhat warm-luck) supporter of the law invoked I'd say... that's bullshit!
I mean, obviously it is happening. But that's a bullshit judgement that I do not support. Being in Australia should protect you from EU laws. And the UK should refuse to extradite somebody for what would not be a crime in the country (as I think France was right to refuse extradition of Ira Einhorn until the condition of his trial as well as his sentence was conform to French's view of human rights).
That's a pretty poor decision and one that give the whole EU's construction a bad name. They should release Toben... and then have Beckham; or whoever is Manchester's star player these days, to kick him in the nuts until his knee get sore. |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
