The last one, especially, is priceless! |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I was always of the opinion that someone at Fox News came up with this, and then it spread like wild fire. Did Palin actually say that she is "well versed" (or any synonymous term) in foreign affairs because she could see Russia?
Edit: I found a clip, and she isn't just saying she can see Russia. It's a little bit more than that. Still a bit crazy, but not bat-shit insane.
| Now, that's at least a bit more scatterbrained than the way the statement has been misrepresented by the media. Harder to argue about, though, especially since so many of Palin's sentences are really meaningless fragments, seemingly filled with random words vaguely remembered from her coaching sessions.
