This rabbit must be related to Bun-Bun from Sluggy Freelance. One of the commentators notes that it wasn't a rattler afterall, but a chicken snake; he says they look a lot alike. Still...

The bunny is a female with a litter she is defending. She is too big for the snake to attack and it was approaching that litter. It is not uncommon for a snake to flee in such circumstances.
The serpent is certainly not a rattlesnake. The video is of poor focus, but I'm certain that it was either one of the rat snakes (Elaphe ssp.) or a bull snake (Pituophis ssp.); I think the latter.
The term "chicken snake" is a catch-all, bullshit term used by the ignorent.
