Can some of you folks please go check out the Wikipedia article on Chakras and correct it if you can. It was worse before and I commented on the talk page, it's been slightly repaired by one user but it still makes claims in certain lines as if Chakras were fact. I don't know enough about the history of the idea to write it myself.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. Ok, somebody added "unproven" and it was removed (rightly so). That's not what I was driving at. There's still a line in there that clames medical practitioners are becoming "more aware" of the reality of chakras, and the whole tone of the article needs to treat it as a belief, not a fact. Can someone else with experience have a go at this? |

| If don't like it being treated as a fact, why would you object to the addition of modifier "unproven?"

Ok; I did work on it a bit (you might recognize my mighty commatic style in places... I use to whole chakras just to power my comma adding powers).
Replaced a few 'are' with 'are believed to be' as well as clarified that the modern new age practices are a bland of various tradition and stuff made up on the spot. And did a few copy paste around because it was quite messy, I think. Also added a section about what modern science says about it with a couple of references to article debunking the bull and asked to included some internet links.
I will have a look at it again tomorrow; but right now, it is way past my bed-time. |

| Well, it sounds like you did a lot of work on that page. Now let's hope someone won't just "revert" it and undo all of your hard work. I hope you saved a copy.

It's quite possible the page is infested with Wiki Nazis, True Believers who will not allow any fact they don't like to remain on the page. I ran into them myself when I tried to inject some actual facts on their "Passive Smoking" page. They were gone within hours. I did a podcast about it:
http://www.davehitt.com/podcasts/index.html#Wiki
The simple fact that they changed the page title from the more common "Second Hand Smoke," and didn't use the scientific term, "Environmental Tobacco Smoke," but instead used the most politically charged phrase they could find, "Passive Smoking," shows they're more interested in propaganda than facts.
Wikipedia is great if you want to find out the names of George Washington's parents or the average lifespan of a Blue Whale, but if the subject is at all controversial it's quite likely there are a few Wiki Nazis camped out there whose primary mission in life is to make sure the site reflected their beliefs, and their beliefs only.

The entry has been modified since the last time I checked it.
But the guy that modified it added some details about new ages chakras and did not remove my additions, so he seems to be 'fair and balanced', albeit wooified. |
