YO: Get a load of this...
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/White_House_altered_documents_on_coalition_1205.html
Winston's government job in "1984" was altering documents and print news stories. The intention was to "focus" history. Good luck with the Bush Legacy Project, Karl.
OY!

That is quite insulting to the nations that participated to the initial invasion and later revised their strategy. That's like saying that their participation and the death of their soldiers never happened... |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Carl Sagan - 1996 |

"In many ways it is puzzling why so much effort was put into revising and deleting these documents," Althaus told Gibbs. "This is mainly because the changes were pretty small potatoes."
Althaus says he's been surprised by the reaction to his revelations on political blogs, cautioning that he isn't inherently saying that the modifications were part of a Bush political propaganda effort.
"Our findings out in the blogosphere are generally interpreted in a political lens, which was not our intention at all," Althaus said. "Our intention was to alert scholars and journalists who rely on government documents to let them know the facts have been tampered with." |
It's certainly something to be investigated, but conclusions seem premature at this point. |

| My own conclusion, premature or not, is that any such attempt by Bush's people to change history will backfire, by focusing attention precisely upon the facts they would most like to erase.
