Great news, to say the least. Hope he now will disappear out of view.
Geez...if there was ever a living example of a dink, he's the one.

Not gonna happen. He is going to be tried for federal corruption charges, for trying to sell that senate seat. He is going to be in the news for qute a while!

A little prediction here...maybe he'll be handed a heavy fine and a brief stint in the pokey. After being booted out for being overtly obnoxious in prison, he'll join up with Sarah Palin's campaign as her VP running mate giving Saturday Night Live such a boost in new material and high ratings that the program is catapulted back to the number one slot.

Until the next scumbag comes along. (Long history of it up there.)

Hey, just because we have jailed 6 of the last 8 governors......

And the kicker for this one is that he is barred from holding any public office in Illinois. although that will be largely moot once the criminal trial is over because convicted felons may not hold office in Illinois unless the felony was committed by a minor.

Jon Stewart pointed out that a little more than 50% of murders go unsolved. Which means that you're less likely to spend time in jail for murdering someone than for being an Illinois governor.

Ya know, I was gonna argue that. But even if I remove Dan Walker (did time for the S&L debacle and not for actions while governor) the observation is still accurate.

One thing is though, murders don't necessarily have money trails to follow.

Maybe any Illinois candidate seeking the office of Governor should be tried in advance, so see if he or she is qualified. Only those found guilty of corruption should be able to run for the office.

Dang it, Mooner. Don't you think we have enough problems?

I mean we have Oberweis running for everything on the "fear the immigrant while I cite bad info and hate speech". You know, ultra-conservative Republican. You know you are bad when your own delegation denounces your statements at the RNC.

I'd like some not quite as corrupt and blatant elected leaders for a change.

Although, I do find the impeachment vote haveing a single dissenting voice funny. The single dissenting voice was Rod's sister-in-law. The removal proceedings had no dissenting voices.

I've worked on Pat Quinn's campaign. He's really squeaky clean and tends to piss off both parties because he is serious about ethics reforms which is designed to make the process more transparent. This guy championed (defeated) legislation to bar companies that do business with Illinois and businesses who want to do business with Illinois from making campaign contributions. When it failed, he went in with the treasurer and made a cross reference database of major campaign contributers (companies, what they gave, who they gave it to, and how much in state business they got.) and legislators.

Sounds like your new Governor Pat Quinn is as honest as we have anywhere. I hope you can get him elected in, what, 2011?
