Can I enjoy just one fucking day?

Be happy all you want. I'd rather wait to see him actually do something constructive. So far he's promised little and shown by his appointments that he has no desire to change anything.

Hopefully, that's not a good indication of what he and the Dems will accomplish.

He has promised a few things.
In fact, his promises were general and realistic. In his speech after his reelection, Bush promised to 'abolish tyranny' to give you a perspective.

I don't expect the new president to turn into Barack Guevara, but he seems honest and open-minded and that alone promise a significant improvement...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

That clip will probably be the defining film clip in his history, along with the one where he couldn't get the door open.

Do you all think that he will be charged with war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the debt that he is leaving this country in?

Never. The rich and powerful protect each other, even when they're on opposite sides.

George W. Bush is a criminal on many different levels! Quite far, the worst president in history.

Easily. And I lived through the Nixon and Carter presidencies. He even dwarfed them in pure horribleness.

The idea is not to provoke a constitutional crisis every other week when a politician is proved corrupt.
I don't know how it works in the US.

In the US we usually re-elect them.

Damn the fucking assholes at fauxnews who would criticize such an investigation,

Last week O'Reilly and Morris referred to waterboarding, several times, as "pouring water up someone's nose." Trivial, really.

So now it's over. Eight years of his lies, chicanery, tyranny and complete disregard for the constitution are behind us. I feel like we have woken up from a long dark frightening nightmare to find ourselves in a warm, soothing bath.

In a pot.

On the stove.

Mmmm, so warm, so soooothing.

I'm normally a decent person, but in this case, I'd like to see O'Really and Morris subjected to waterboarding, on camera, and see them change their tune. Documented evidence they squeeled like pigs, that they can try to deny.

Indeed, Hitchens, at least, at the honesty to do so...

Now that's a very non-libertarian thought to have. Next you'll be admitting that in an unfettered free market, the rich and powerful will always game the system to keep themselves rich and powerful, and therefore the only proper remedy are regulations and laws to keep them honest. Maybe there's a communist in you after all. At least then you wouldn't have to worry about paying taxes.

Can I hold the camera? Or do the sound? Or make sandwiches for the crew? Anything, just to be there.

Their comments lose in the translation to print. They were just so casual about it. Like they were talking about punishing little Johnny by taking away his XBox for the weekend.

So, as time has come bid farewell and to retrospect on W's 'achievements', here might be an interesting resource.
