New York (NNC) -- Is a man's dignity worth $500? That's how much a 62-year-old from Florida said he has been offered through an online auction he announced in September.
Dillon Natalius, 62, a retired emergency dispatcher, said he has put his dignity up for auction.
Dillon Natalius The man, who goes by "Dillon Natalius," and who set up a private auction through an online auction site, says doing so has given him a good deal to think about, including the question of whether the very act of trying to sell one's dignity diminishes it. "I really need some money, after my 401K funds tanked due to the recession," he said. "After a heart attack and a divorce, I couldn't make house payments, and my home was foreclosed. I had to move into a down-town rooming house. But at least I still had my dignity. Now, I wonder if I have that any more. The mere act of trying to auction it may have made it worthless."
Natalius' top bid comes from a Texas woman, who wants to have him swim in her septic tank while her friends watch and laugh.
"Maybe I better settle the auction right now, before the bottom falls out of my personal dignity market," said Natalius.
