According to the good people at the Dawkins forums, it seems that Conservapedia is going after him.
And of course, their first link is to the creationist video where Dawkins was "stumped"...
Never mind that it's pure edited bullshit...also never mind the fact that Dawkins answered the question in his book "Unweaving the Rainbow" in the chapter "The Genetic Book of the Dead".
Never mind that years ago, the "information challenge was answered...
Sweet Jesus. What a load of complete bullshit. Damnit, every time I think my opinion of religous bullshit artists couldn't get any lower....

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

And to think that thousands of homeschooled Christian kids are being brainwashed in programs based upon reading and writing utter lies in Conservapedia.

This section from the Conservapedia page is especially reprehensible:
Implication in the death of Jesse Kilgore
Dawkins' book "The God Delusion" along with a community college biology class, have been linked to the tragic suicide of Jesse Kilgore. Kilgore had several discussions with friends and relatives in which he made it clear Dawkins' book had destroyed his belief in God. This loss of faith is considered the cause of his suicide which is not surprising given that there is evidence which suggest that atheism can be a causal factor for suicide for some individuals.
Jesse's father is quoted as saying "If my son was a professing homosexual, and a professor challenged him to read [a book called] 'Preventing Homosexuality'… If my son was gay and [the book] made him feel bad, hopeless, and he killed himself, and that came out in the press, there would be an outcry. He would have been a victim of a hate crime and the professor would have been forced to undergo sensitivity training, and there may have even been a wrongful death lawsuit. But because he's a Christian, I don't even get a return telephone call."
Jesse's blog remains online after his death. |

That is indeed disgusting, The Rat.
It would be more honest to write that Conservapedia is "linked to" promoting the urge of sane people to go and slaughter lying, fanatical fundies before their dangerous demagoguery drives us just as batshit crazy as they are.

Conservapedia is the asinine invention of Phylis Schlafly's kid Randy, and is good for a laugh. The little snot-nose seems to think that he is one of the higher-ranking "peers" in the peer review process. I think that it might be a lack of dungwits in that process that gives him the idea there is ample room for him.
This is the anti-science Bible-wanker who, while anything but a bacteriologist, demanded (that 's right: demanded!) a sample of an evolved bacteria culture from a long-term experiment and whined endlessly and hilariously when the researcher, Dr. Richard Lenski, finally told him, in essence, to piss off. From the article on Conservapedia at Wikipedia: the Lenski Dialogue, (scroll down):
"Lenski dialogue
Wikisource has original text related to this article: Lenski dialog
On June 9, 2008, New Scientist published an article describing Richard Lenski's 20-year E. coli experiment, which observed that bacteria evolve the ability to metabolize citrate—a rare and complex mutation.[64] Schlafly contacted Lenski to request the data. Lenski explained that the relevant data was in the paper and that Schlafly fundamentally misunderstood it. Schlafly wrote again and requested the raw data. Lenski replied again that the relevant data was already in the paper, that the "raw data" were living bacterial samples, which he would willingly share with qualified researchers at properly equipped biology labs, and that he felt insulted by letters and comments on Conservapedia, which he saw as brusque and offensive, including claims of outright deceit.[65] The exchange, recorded on a Conservapedia page called "Lenski dialog",[66] was widely reported on news-aggregating sites and weblogs. Carl Zimmer wrote that it was readily apparent that "Schlafly had not bothered to read [Lenski's paper] closely",[67] and PZ Myers criticized Schlafly for demanding data despite not having a plan to use it nor the expertise to analyze it.[68] During and after the Lenski dialogue on Conservapedia several users on the site were blocked for "insubordination" for expressing disagreement with Schlafly's stance on the issue.[69]"
Dawkins could, if he wants to bother, skin & fillet this precious little demagogue like a catfish and have him for lunch.

It's Conservapedia, what do you expect? The only thing I do there is read the comment pages for comic relief. Dumb doesn't begin to describe those. It's like Uncommonly Dense squared, raised to the power of infinity and then covered with an extra helping of TARD. |

The discussion page is again pure comedy gold. These people need to be hit with a clue-by-four. |

| Isn't it wonderfully horrifying to be able to look into those fevered minds, as they calmly discuss their defense of a whole category of lying?
Reading that is like getting access to internal memos or conference minutes from 1984's Ministry of Truth. (Except, unlike the Conservapedia goons, the Party would have been smart enough to have someone alter those.)

Sadly, yes. |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I must admit that reading the discussion pages of conservapedia have given me new insights into the depths ignorance can reach. To imagine that the people writing it are actually serious is still something I have to work on though. |
