No, this one is not an April Fool's gag, although the creationist community has been trying to pull it on us since the death of Darwin.
It has been widely held among many sincere and well-meaning Christians that Charles Darwin on his deathbed not only renounced evolution, but also accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. The tale of this deathbed conversion has been passed down over the years as fact. This “event” has even been used as “evidence” that evolution is false. The overzealous have, at times, boldly proclaimed, “See—even Darwin knew that this theory was not true!”
Of course, even if they were correct and Darwin did indeed drink the Kool-Aid on his deathbed, it would not have the slightest effect on the science. I think that it is wonderful that AiG has set the story straight, but I rather doubt that it will have much if any effect on the true believers.

AiG can afford to discard a fair number of lies invented by other Creationists. It hurts AiG not at all, and makes it appear (to anyone not investigating further) that they are fair and careful with facts.

This is one of the ways that Ken Ham shows his relative genius when measured against the likes of Kent Hovind. Hovind never met a Creationist lie that he didn't like.

Ah, but look at the reference they give us.

Which reference? Except for one to the Wiki article on Lady Hope, all the references are circular citations of the AiG article itself.

You are not looking into it deeply enough. It's been some time since some creationist or other blithered the Lady Hope myth up in here, but I'd have loved to have had this AiG article to throw at them when they did. Considering it's source, it'd have been a gob-stopper better than anything Wiki could ever come up with.

Can you imagine the stuttering attempts at refuting it?

Ah! That would be sweet, Fil.
