What was the other lie Robb? As a fan of Fox, you should be good at spotting them...
Here's the deal. After a search, it seems the source for this story is Fox. So I'm going to wait and see what happens when others check the story out, because I think Fox is the least trustworthy network, in this country, ever.

Fox as a credible news source?...don't forget to include the National Inquirer. (Or maybe not -- NI really doesn't pretend to exhort themselves as a newsworthy entity). |

Gotta love how the Robb's of the US are being manipulated by the Glen Beck/Rush Limpbaughs of the "conservative" media. (conservative in quotes because conservatism died with Barry Goldwater)

As opposed from the shitload of lies and BS and propaganda from the Bush administration? I had the impression that representatives of the Bush-administration only had to flap their lips, to fill their lying-sack-if-shit-quota for the week.

Does every American gun get a serial number? I have two large problems with the article. First: "The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S." I find nearly one fifth far from "only". It is a significant amount of the number of weapons traced to the US. And note the word traced, which leads me to my second problem with the article:
""Not every weapon seized in Mexico has a serial number on it that would make it traceable, and the U.S. effort to trace weapons really only extends to weapons that have been in the U.S. market," Matt Allen, special agent of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), told FOX News."
"Not have been in the U.S. market" does not mean it isn't coming from the US. The only thing it means is that it has not been part of the legal weapons trade in the US.
On the other hand, I don't think the FOX article is necessarily bad reporting. The numbers can be traced, although I haven't done so yet and probably won't, but I see no reason to doubt the numbers claimed. But even if 17% of the weapons are coming from the US instead of 90%, this doesn't mean that efforts to stop the trafficking of those should be stopped or that the amount is insignificant. If you don't want things smuggled into the country, there is no excuse to not make efforts to stop things being smuggled out. |

Weapons trade is very restricted in Mexico and weapons are difficult and mostly illegal to come by. Really, the only real solution is to import them illegally.
The US being one of the countries in the world where it is the easiest to find such weapons and one where the Mexican criminals would be the most likely to have friends and contacts and probably the country from where it would be the easiest to smuggle into Mexico is is highly expected that such trade would be taking place. Really, there is no actual alternative. |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I think it's interesting that Fox points out the numbers as if it invalidates the entire discussion. If they're right, and at best they seem to be only partially right, does that mean guns coming from the US aren't a problem? I'd have to say no. Guns from the US are obviously a huge problem.
I wouldn't mind seeing the numbers clarified but no matter which way you look at it, US guns are being used to kill a LOT of people.

Lie is quite a stretch in this context. Would you care to rephrase?

| Come on @tomic. Even though the 90% figure was actually given to the administration, there is no way they could have misunderstood if Fox says so. Hell, Fox is the station that figured out that a war is being waged on Christmas, all by themselves! That's journalism!!!!
