This is an issue that I hold near and dear. I will be without insurance if things keep going the way they are going. That said, Obama is our best chance. The Specter thing looms large because with the inclusion of Franken, the Dems can step right over Republican opposition to his plan. I too will be disappointed if what we wind up with is some half hearted half way measure. But hey, his hand has been strengthened and I do believe he has the mandate to get it done. And sooner then later.
I am cautiously optimistic. |

I agree with your concern. There's no greater issue. For too long Republican cries of "socialism!" have kept American health care in the dark ages compared to other developed countries, and even compared to some third world nations.
My hope is buoyed by the belief that Obama really wants to make a history during his presidency, and will be willing to expend his political capital in getting universal health care enacted at last.

| Specter has always voted the way he wants and not along party lines, I don't think that will change. The only reason he changed parties is because he was going to lose as a republican. |
