I've not bothered to sign up for Facebook and after reading this, it's not likely that I will. I just don't like people all that well.
In psychic workshops, they teach you all about cords.

Cords that bind. Cords that connect. Cords that can invigorate as well as consume, excite your spirit and yet also leech life from your very soul, cords made of simple psychic energy that run like invisible cables straight from your heart and your mind and your various energetic G-spots straight out to the world, and back again.

But most of all, they run straight into other people. Or from them, straight into you. It happens all the time, every day, in every interaction you have, psychic energy instantly passing between individuals as you move through the world and through your thoughts and memories and dreams, energy cords established even over long distances, phone calls, handshakes, gropings, co-ed showers, not to mention fantasies, hatreds, unwanted desires and just about everything in between. It's just what we do.
I guess I ain't gonna be Tweetin' all that much, either....

Well, here's the thing. You get to choose your "friends" on facebook. All of mine are skeptics, atheists and people who promote freethinking. I have a network of friends who often offer a treasure trove of resources and/or fun. I suppose it comes down to how you use it. There are several people, members of SFN who are there.

I'm not pushing it. If networking and having a relationship with friends that differs from the forum experience is not your thing. Cool.

I refuse to twitter. Being that connected just seem crazy to me. But that's another thing.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

It amuses me. There's this guy named Gluck who is sometimes really funny (in his own downbeat way).

There is a terrible affliction that is all-pervasive on Facebook though. They are called "applications" and they are many and various. And everyone wants you to do them. IQ tests are particularly viral.

You haff been varned.

You are on FB too dglas?
I don't think I have you in my friend's list...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Yes, sorry. I am Greg Teed for anyone so foolish.... ;)

You know, there are seven people in the United States who are named Greg Teed. I wonder if any of them suffer any grief because of the shit I write...

What a bunch of ridiculous woo. Except for the co-ed shower part of course.

It's one of Mark Moford's pieces. He's a pretty flamboyant writer and I suspect that much of it was tongue-in-cheek. Nevertheless, at this point, I'm still not going to bother. I already have a sufficiency of on-line enemies, thank you.
