I'll say one thing, this guy does his researh, (at least when it comes to the stuff he wants to push), when it comes to anything else, well, you'll see the kind of reaction I have to put down.

edit: Link doesn't work properly, so just check out the posts at the end, the one I'm trying to refer you to is my last post at July 3, 2009 3:32 PM.

Though his stuff about "Nahmanides" is interesting...though I'd like to be able to do more checking on it; basically the guy's commentaries in the 1200's is supposed to match closely with modern physics' idea of the big bang and the "10 dimensions" thing. Nahmanides is supposed to have figured that out from the bible.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

The commentS(!) from you at the specified time are on page 2, Ig.

From my point-of-view, the "extra" dimensions of String theory will only be "only inferrable" if the theory remains largely untestable. Heck, spacetime itself is inferred from the fact that things change: it isn't directly observable, so the "knowable/unknowable" distinction is shaky, at best.

As for the Big Bang: while the observable universe may once have been the size of a mustard seed, the size of the entire universe at the moment of the Big Bang is unknown (and may be unknowable).

Arguing physics with fundies strikes me as being like translating the Bible into Klingon; it can be done, but why bother?

I found it amusing that they dragged out the tired, old "fossil seashells on mountain tops" nonsense. Basic geology consigned that one permanently to the midden in the late 19th & early 20th centuries, when Tectonic Plate Theory began to be developed. And it was suspected (Continental Drift) well before that.

As for "String Theory," I'm not at all sure that anyone really understands it. I certainly don't.

Yeah, I pointed out to that guy that all that stuff he brought up is old news to geologists: as I said, he does a lot of research when it comes to stuff that he agrees with, but NONE whatsoever when it comes to something that he doesn't buy, in spite of his admonishment to me to read both sides of the argument.

When I try to press him on it, he pulled out that "how can one ever settle anything" ploy, or something like that.

By the way, I know where my posts are, but when I try to link to them, even when I go to her blog and click on the link to my post, it just takes me to the front of the blog post.
