Part of one nation is entirely surrounded by another nation. Geographically, this is called an "exclave."

1. What is the name of Nation "A"?

2. What is the name of Nation "B"?

3. For an extra point, what is the name of the town in the yellow-bordered area in the middle of the image?

'Cause you probably drove a truck or rode a hog through there.

Sorry, no points.

Ok, West Berlin and Germany.

Is it Petoria?

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
Carl Sagan - 1996

No. Petoria would be an enclave.

Mooner.....

The most exhaustive list of true national exclaves I can find is this:

Angola: Cabinda
Armenia: Nagorno-Karabakh (disputed)
Azerbaijan: Nakhichevan
Belgium: Baarle-Hertog
Brunei: Temburong
Croatia: Dubrovnik
East Timor: Oecussi-Ambeno
Northern Cyprus: Kokkina (de facto).
Oman: Musandam
Russia: Kaliningrad
Spain: Ceuta, Llívia and Melilla
United Arab Emirates: Nahwa

I Google-Earthed every damn one of them and none even looked anywhere like your map. The closest was Kaliningrad in Russia, but it was a much more metropolitan area.

Is it any of the above?

Finally stumped you for a bit, Bill? I was afraid you'd answer this one right away.

No, this exclave is not on that "exhaustive" list. And this really is an exclave of one nation, within the borders of another nation.

A is Germany. B is Switzerland. The town is Busingen am Hochrhein.

If you want to view a really interesting example of an exclave, check out Baarle-Nassau, Belgium.

Mooner.....

Well, if you hadn't been so bloody evasive in your description, I would have known instantly, as would any reasonably bright fifth-grader, that it was Busingen.

According to Wapedia, Busingen am Hochrhein is actually both an enclave and an exclave. Now, being one of the recognized world authorities on this esoteric subject, I naturally supposed you had picked an example of a true exclave, one without the epistimological hindrances of also being a enclave, so I searched the geography of true sole exclaves. But noooo, you selected an exclave-enclave and knowingly concealed it's enclave nature. This was dastardly unfair and caused me to forfeit the points and unbroken record of success that I formerly held. I have actually lost to a mere neophite amateur geography-guesser! You have made me feel like a fourth-grader. You should be ashamed, Mooner, ASHAMED!!!

I am going to file a formal complaint to Dave, the Oracle of the Occult and repository of all knowledge that is not to be easily known to Man; to the effect that Mooner is knowingly witholding clues in his capacity of puzzlemaster. So there!

I just figured you couldn't handle a problem that involved a place being both an exclave and an enclave, so I tried to keep it simple for you, Bill. My labors are worth every cent SFN gives me. The fine thanks I get...
