Geez. First a night out to dinner with Richard Dawkins and Dan Dennett, next an appearance in an upcoming Mr. Deity.

For a guy who's supposedly so strident and unlikeable, PZ sure seems to be getting more and more popular. Do you think it had anything to do with riding that dinosaur?

That was good! Design sense limited to gays, ladies and "of course, the Italians." Probably true. This Italian design is surely devinely inspired.

My sister, who has several times traveled in Europe, considers Italian men and women the best-dressed in the world. I wonder if gay Italians exceed even that level.

Divinely inspired from Volvo, which drew the P1800 a few years earlier.

Edited to add:
Compared to the Maserati Sebring, the Volvo P1800's performance was pitiful. Score 1-1.

Don't get me wrong, I love the P1800 despite its little engine, but for the beautiful body design the Volvo folks also looked to the Italians and commissioned the firm of Carrozzeria Pietro Frua, who designed and built the first three prototypes on Volvo chassis.

However - as a symmetry to your "Edited to add" note above, Italian car makers of the time often used the lowest-grade recycled metal which was not galvanized and would rust at the slightest scratch. The Swedes however used top quality galvanized metal, so there are many less rusted 1960s Saabs and Volvos than Fiats and Maserati.

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.
