If I understand you correctly, we are both being skeptical in exactly the same manner, but when I am skeptical, I am "obstructive". Conversely, when you are skeptical, you are "constructive".
Am i correct? If not, please explain the difference. >>

If by "contrarian skeptic" you mean "disruptive troll," I certainly am, although I can't claim to be the "designated" one. I'm pretty much free-lance in that respect.
Now then, when are you going to answer the myriad questions asked of you? When are you going to back up your claims with reference beyond hand-waving?

Y'know, in the first thread you started here, I took the trouble to look up and provide you with an excellent article pertaining to the topic. You didn't even bother to open it. That tells me something: you are not interested in any thoughts nor words save your own.

I take it my post was not the least bit interesting to you then, cantbe323? I mean, grammar issues aside. ;)
I had hoped you would see someone trying to approach the subject matter on your own terms.
Aside: You know, I have books by Feyerabend around here. Collected papers, I believe. Never could get a copy of "Beyond Method." I went that route of study and ended up being more inclined to science than when I started. Our understandings are far from perfect(realizing that is an important part of allowing for growth), but the alternatives are beyond-the-pale absurd. Intuitionism isn't going to give us objective truth, precisely because it doesn't refer to reality. I expect scientific method may yet have more principles to be developed. But it is whole orders of magnitude more effective for providing predictive power than anything we've ever had before. To my thinking, given the inaccessibility of vague idealisms like "truth" and "knowledge" we struggle with, efficacy counts for quite a bit. |

I think he means "boor" rather than "bore." Either way, it's less than a deadly insult. I've been called much worse by far more serious people.
Y'know, I'm beginning to question this guy's general education level. It's small stuff, really, such as not knowing that the Senate is an equal partner with the House of Representatives in Congress, not using the very simple forum code for quotes even though he was given instructions by Doc, and odd spellings here & there. Not damning evidence by any means; just something that causes me to wonder.
Something else that I find wondrous is his dogged insistence on making what can only called "unfounded statements," that might be very interesting topics to argue, should he follow up on any of them -- that brain thread, for example. But the way he expresses them, they are not even worthy of Straw Man status. They just sort of hang there like rhetorical orphans; non sequiturs without topic, to mix the metaphore.
I'm beginning to question his ability to debate, as he has certainly not done any here.
cantbe323, you did a lucky pick with these fora. It is quite difficult to get banned from here, and what with your style of trolling, you could last indefinitely. Hell, I'm still around, ain't I? But most other skeptic sites would have sent you packing quite a few postings ago, as soon as they discovered that conversation with you is simply pissing into the wind.
So, I make a request: pick one of the multitude of threads you have started and lets actually discuss it down to it's very end. Then we can go on to another one. Finish what you start, son; finish what you start.

I’ve asked you six times to show me where I’ve setup “gotchas”, what a “gotcha” precisely is, and why they pose a threat to you and your astonishing intellect.
I’ve asked you one time to provide evidence that the following statement is accurate:
