There are few things more appealing than a skunk kit. At that age, they will actually adopt you as a foster parent. Of course, due caution should be the order of the day; they can spray almost as soon as they get their legs under them. And they make horrible house pets; they dig like backhoes and your walls won't stand a chance.

Even as adults, they are not aggressive at all. They can be a nuiscace though, due to their digging. Many's the yard that's been defaced by small, shallow holes where a skunk was hunting grubs. And many's the dog that learned it's lesson the hard way, and left it's owners praying for rain.

| 30 years ago, I met a couple who not only kept several skunks as pets, but would descent them for other people who wanted pet skunks. It seemed to me (way back then) that the biggest difference between those pet skunks and cats was that skunks don't purr. |
