Subtle, heh? You betch'a:

Does a batshit insane Republican have to literally hand out guns to Teabaggers and say, "Go kill them!" before she's considered to be inciting violence?

Unfortunately, I don't think that even a death directly attributed to right-wing speech, would change anyone's position. Most of the loony right would equate it to a German citizen shooting Hitler before WW2, or a Soviet shooting Stalin before his ascendance: a.k.a. doing the world a favor.

"What the hell is an Aluminum Falcon?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought my Dark Lord of the Sith could protect a small thermal exhaust port that's only 2-meters wide! That thing wasn't even fully paid off yet! You have any idea what this is going to do to my credit?!?!"

"What? Oh, oh, 'just rebuild it'? Oh, real [bleep]ing original. And who's gonna give me a loan, jackhole? You? You got an ATM on that torso LiteBrite?"

I think the effect, though, would be to sway the undecided to swing firmly against those unchangeable fanatics. We'll probably find out soon enough, sadly.

I agree. For these type of tactics to be marginalized in use by the campaigners, then the Rethuglicans will have to loose a few seats or at best break even during a mid term they are expected to clean up in. And the message will have to be crystal clear as to why they did not meet their own expectation. That message being, "Hey, your political rhetoric scares us."

Now there's this CNN article:
Washington (CNN) -- Democratic congressional leaders Wednesday demanded Republicans join them in condemning a spate of threats and vandalism that has followed Sunday's vote on a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. health care system.

More than 10 Democrats have reported trouble since the weekend vote, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told reporters. Windows have been smashed at Democratic offices in at least three states, and federal agents were investigating whether a cut gas line at the home of a Virginia congressman's brother was related to the lawmaker's yes vote.

Democracy "is not about violence," Hoyer said at a news conference with South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, the No. 3 Democrat in the House of Representatives.

. . .

Republican House members encouraged protesters outside and inside the House gallery, some of whom carried messages like "Vote no or else" or "If Brown won't stop it, a Browning will" -- a reference to newly elected Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown accompanied by a silhouette of a pistol.

Since the vote, an Alabama blogger has launched a "window war" against Democrats and has kept a tally of the recent incidents of damage, including ones in upstate New York, Arizona and Kansas. A message left for Michigan Democrat Bart Stupak, whose last-minute decision to support the bill helped give Democrats the votes it needed to pass, warned that "there are millions of people across the country who wish you ill, and all of those thoughts projected on you will materialize into something that's not very good for you."

Clyburn, who is African-American, said he has received a fax in his office with a picture of a noose drawn on it and had threatening telephone calls at his home.

Now Representative Edward Cantor, the GOP's # 2 in the House is saying that someone put a bullet through a window at his district office in Richmond, Virginia.

In my opinion, it's time to call out troops to protect all Senators and Members of Congress and their families, before the Culture War becomes the real thing.

This shit is literally insane.

It will be a real tragedy when some elected official eats a bullet over this, and if it happens before the next elections it will seal the fate of the GOP. As it is they have some chance at recovering their credibility, but when a dem dies to political assassination and they didn't condem the violence before, it's over for them as a party.

I saw that and was stunned to read that this is somehow the democrats fault.
He also accused Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine and Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland -- a member of the Democratic House leadership -- of "fanning the flames" of violence by using threats that have been made against Democratic members "as political weapons."

I am so tired of GOP anger and nonsense that my first thought was that this shot was fired by GOP request.

Oddly, Cantor won't say anything about the contents of the threatening communications he'd received prior to the shooting incident, though he's clearly blaming Democrats for all the violence.

Bit Cantor is a Jew, and mentioned in passing that he has been harassed in the past for his ethnicity. Pardon me for suspecting that the bullet through his district office window may have come from a right-wing anti-Semite. With Cantor's strange silence on the one hand about recent threats, and his willingness to blame Democrats for all violence on the other hand, that's exactly what I suspect happened.

The inchoate racist, fascist beast that has been unleashed in America since the election of Barack Obama has many different flavors, including some that the GOP will come to regret.

How exactly would this in any logical way lead me to think Sarah Palin wants me to go shoot a congressperson?

It's technically and legally deniable, of course. But I believe the specific use of targeting crosshairs instead of X's, dots or stars to show the locations of the Democratic Congress members speaks for itself.

Palin is ratcheting up the craziness of people she already knows have threatened to start shooting if the health care bill were passed ("If Brown Can't Stop it, A Browning Can,").

I don't think there's a chance in Hell that Palin's choice of graphics was merely accidental or coincidental.

More nastiness:
Condom sent to Democrat who voted for health care bill
Posted: March 25th, 2010 08:23 PM ET

From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby

Rep. Betty McCollum is a Democrat from Minnesota who voted for the health care bill.
Rep. Betty McCollum is a Democrat from Minnesota who voted for the health care bill.

Washington (CNN) - Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minnesota, was one of several members of Congress who reported receiving obscene and threatening letters after voting for the health care reform bill passed by Democrats on Sunday.

But her spokeswoman told CNN that inside one letter received Thursday was a condom, removed from its original packaging.

McCollum's spokeswoman Maria Reppas said Thursday that the congresswoman's district office in St. Paul received the condom in an envelope dated March 23, along with an anonymous typed letter reading: "Betty McCollum you've been dry f***** by the liberal party."

The condom had been removed from its original packaging and placed in a plastic bag, according to McCollum's district director. McCollum's office said the U.S. Capitol Police and local law enforcement are investigating the package along with another one received Thursday.

Her office also reported receiving part of a shredded American flag doused in gasoline and a typed letter addressed to McCollum, Rep. Keith Ellison, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Sen. Al Franken - all Democrats from Minnesota.

"Each of you receives part of a shredded American flag," the letter read. "It represents Obama and your liberal filth. Open the bag, it's covered in the stench you've brought to our government ... Because of you, we are now a country of dirt, shame, corruption and slime."

This video is even more chilling. GOP House Minority Leader John Boehner told one Democratic Congressman that he "may be a dead man" for voting for Obamacare.

With not-so-subtle death threats coming from major Republican figures like of Palin and Boehmer, the GOP itself is beginning to look like a terrorist organization.

I think you meant Eric Cantor, and an odd thing about the bullet in his window...

Right, it was Eric Cantor, my bad. I hadn't rechecked Cantor's first name.

Wow, I hadn't caught that about the view of the police on that bullet hole. So basically, Eric Cantor's using a probable non-event as part of a ploy to deflect blame from for hate rhetoric people like his boss, Boehner in order to to blame the Dems and to further inflame those on the Teabagger right who are already resorting to real terrorist tactics.

I am so shocked that a Republican would lie...
