"Agreement with Palin's politics" is nowhere close to synonymous with "think Palin would be a good President." There are plenty of people whose politics I agree with but who would probably do worse as President than a box of rocks.
All I have to go on is what Palin says, and she says its ridiculous to think she wants people to attack congresspersons, and she has clarified that she does not want people to do that.
I think it's indicative of short-sightedness. Given today's political environment, Palin's fans, and given Palin's use of hunting stories and metaphors, it's just astounding that nobody said, "do you think anyone will think of this as a hit list" and avoided even the appearance of impropriety before letting that graphic out.

And I much prefer that hypothesis to the one in which Palin and friends released that graphic while snickering, "watch the lefties go nuts over this!" and then disavowing it afterward. Guaranteed there are people out there thinking that's exactly what happened.

I think that the graphic was intended to appeal to the fears of the people she wanted donations from. If it made lefties go nuts, so much the better, in Palin's mind . The problem is that there's no way to control who views the message. There may be people who will understand the "wink and nod", but someone may see that message and interpret it literally. To me, a politician should be responsible enough to protect all lives, regardless of whether they agree on politics.
