So he spent all that time it required to make up those "entries" yet he can't even defend his own statements? And to what purpose?

For a brief moment, I had considered linking Rudolfo up with a list of the fallacies he has used here. But I have explained to him several mistakes he has made and all I ever got back from him is how stupid I am. Here is a guy who mocks a central rule of supporting a claim. Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence. As though all he has to do is to think what he believes is true, and that makes it true. Armed with hunches, facts in his mind, it just seems silly to him to answer questions put to him, because he is that convinced of his hypothesis. He has no doubt. He is certain.
Not surprisingly, he didn't concede anything about the photo's of the kids. The only fact about the photo that he did seize on, was that the kids were Jews. And Dave dug that up. Not Rudolfo. He ignored the reasons why the kids were in good shape because that didn't fit in with his hypothesis, and he took what he could get.
His refusal to answer inconvenient questions is therefor not surprising because he doesn't recognize them as legitimate. He doesn't recognize them anymore than a creationist recognizes transitional fossils. If he admits to mistakes in reasoning, he becomes vulnerable, and he can't go there. I think almost every conspiracy theorist suffers from cognitive-dissonance to some degree. Rudolfo runs on cog-d.
Look at him. When evidence is sought out and presented to him that doesn't confirm his hypothesis, he just waves it away and calls it stupid. Like a child really.
Eventually he will leave here, convinced of a victory, because skeptics have an evil plan of attack that can't lose. Which brings me around to this. Like every other person who has been unable or unwilling to pull together a good argument and debate it rationally, he will blame the other side and call them cheaters. All very predictable...

Tolerating opposing viewpoints shouldn't have to be taught to a supposed skeptics organization. You're all phonies and this club is a joke. Rudolfo is the only one with any courage. You are confused. Rudolfo can hold any view he wants to hold, and as long as it doesn't do harm to others, I would defend his right to hold them. But the idea that all claims have equal merit and don't require empirical evidence to support them is nothing more that post modern thinking where all claims become equal. But all claims do not have equal validity, and since since Rudolfo was the one making the claim, it was incumbent upon him to offer support that was equal to his claim. And we were, indeed tolerant enough to allow him to do that, if he could, on our forums.
At one point in defense of his claim, and to show us how a good skeptic behaves, Rudolfo said that a skeptic is supposed to be skeptical of everything. Sounds good. But again, even by that standard, which is wrong, it follows that we have every right as skeptics to be skeptical of Rudolfo's claims, and when contrary evidence for his claims were supplied to him, he either waved it away, or worse, denied that they had a bering on his claim by making adjustments (what we call moving the goal posts) so the counter evidence was not sufficient and worthy of his ridicule.
We allowed him to present his case and he failed to do so. We allowed him several threads to do that in. The idea we weren't going to ask the tough questions is just silly. And when we did, and he didn't like the questions, he ignored them. Evidence is everything around here. Supportable evidence for extraordinary claim is not asking for much. We did look at his claims, but he didn't consider our rebuttals when they were inconvenient to him.
I love how many times we are called pseudo intellectuals or pseudo skeptics. It's funny because we are held to the same standards that we promote. It's the call of the loser. When the argument fails, just call us names. Whatever...
So, IRock808, point me to a place in this debate where you feel that Rudolfo was treated unfairly. You have made that accusation, and it's now yours to support. Show us how we are phonies. I for one would be happy to have my mistakes pointed out to me in something other than a hostile screed. After all, we must keep an open mind.
And just for clarity sake, when you say to Rudolfo that he should keep up the good fight, are you saying that you agree with his contentions? How much tolerance do you have for people who disagree? Because from the above post, my first impression is that it's not much.

Perhaps the definition of "tolerance" needs to be taught to you. All the evidence that's needed to prove beyond any doubt that Rudolfo's views are tolerated here is that they haven't been deleted. |

And that's one of the things I like about this forum. Anyone can track back over any thread and see what went down during the fray, as IRock808 seems to have done. Assuming that he's not, as SS has hinted at and I've considered, that he's not a Rudy sock. I wonder if he'll return to back up his statements.

Agree. Socks don't last long in here anyway; they usually get nabbed very quickly.
I think this guy is a one-hit wonder on a drive-by, who won't be back. Just as well, as he doesn't seem to have a thick enough hide to survive on these often fractious boards.
I hope he proves me wrong.
