Wow. I can't imagine a congress passing such a law and then giving us a choice.

How about Seicho-no-Ie. I kind of like the idea of "Infinite Life, Wisdom and Abundance"

This was the case in Sweden until 1951.

I think.... I think I would become a Catholic and work to destroy the Church from the inside.

If I go with Islam/Muslim can I have the 72 virgins without martyring myself..........and before I die?

I would rather face a cold reality than delude myself with comforting fantasies.

If I were ever forced to take a religion, then I'd take The True Way and human laws be damned.

Yuuzhan Vong religion was centered on the worship of all life, though certain actions have led many to question this.

It was also one of the most violent, intolerant, and doctrinally uncompromising religions ever recorded.

Sound familiar?

More information can be found here.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

A religion that has a tradition rather than a made up religion - well then I think I'd go for one of those South Pacific Cargo Cults.

Yeah - bring me some sacred "Cargo" - food, smokes, beer, wide screen TV, 300SL Mercedes gullwing, etc., etc...amen.

A friend on mine once told me about the Frisbeetarians. The Frisbeetarians believe that when they die, their souls go up on the roof and never come down.

That's interesting. I kind of thought that should that happen that would be the time when this ole world starts getting me down.

Sad.

But there is a way around it.

You could all become Wiccan. Specifically solitare Wiccans. (practice alone in the comfort of your own home. Great for atheists who could claim to be solitare Wiccans but just blow off the whole ritual stuff.)

Not a "new" religion as it has existed since the 1890's.

I see what you did there, moakley, (and I heartily applaud it).

Hmmm...would depend on the day of the week. Convert to Islam at sunset on Thursday, then to Judaism at sunset on Friday, and then to Christianity in time to take Sunday off too. The remainder of the week I would probably be Roman civil religion, as long as there were no local harumspexes (harumspeci?) checking the daily omens at dawn, I'd have to do that myself, so the chance that any given weekday would end up being a nefas* day would be pretty high.

*Nefas day - the morning omens are so bad that everyone should just stay home in bed and hope they survive. No business is to be conducted. Basically a randomly generated friday the 13th.
