Orignally from PZ Myers.
Some of the comments are even more frightening.
Here's the article that Myers links to.
The governor of Oklahoma is considering tough new abortion bills that would allow doctors to withhold test results showing foetal defects and require women to answer intrusive questions.
The results of the questionnaires would be posted online. |
I don't really have to comment on this, do I? I'm pro-life myself, but Christ. This commentator has a good attitude and practice about this topic.
You know, if the religious people really were "pro-life", they'd put up the money to help mothers who have decided to keep their kids, to raise them.
Naturally, the religious right says :Fuck you to that idea. Unless of course, it's "charities" that they'll likely be running, with all the prerequisite strings attached.
"Sell all you have and give it to the poor", Jesus was supposed to have said, right?
This is apparently what the guys from the Atheist Experience are talking about.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

I hope this one is slapped down by the courts, pronto. It appears the strategy of the Right is to pass these egregious types of unconstitutional bills in various hick states, see them overturned, then ramp up the hate for the Federal Government that they lost control of in 2009. I say bring it on. It helps to expose the reaction.
Failure isn't always, or even usually, the martyrdom that the Religious Right thinks it is. Usually, it's just failure. |

Let's not stop there. I think all people in Oklahoma should have to have probes of all kinds and report there every bodily function on the internet minute by minute. They should also be linked to a large data base of DNA to show their ancestral line of descent and all activity between family members will impact all other family members. One screws up, they all get punished and have to pay heavy fines. Now, that's real "family values" in action. |

My Dad once told me about the Texas family that moved to Oklahoma, and thereby raised the average IQ of both states. Okies tell it the other way around, though. Personally, I suspect both versions are true. |

And the woman-hating scumbags in the State Legislature just over-ridden the veto. I figured that might happen, and now they face the happy prospect of myriad court challenges and shelling out the money to defend their bullshit.

Wow, I assume that state requires a huge majority to do that? |

In what belief system can it possibly be justified for a state to endorse a doctor's ability to intentionally withhold information from patients? Other than purely theocratic and/or totalitarian one, I have no idea... |
