That bastion of journalism (choke sputter barf...) has a penchant, like many uber-right wing whackos, of revealing its agenda with its words. The latest spew has prostitute-toe-sucker* Dick Morris recommending that we read a new book (translation - pile of garbage) from one Daniel Ruddy, a propaganda piece in which he probably quote mines enough to make Don Blankenship hire him to work underground.

Imagine the frustration of a dead historical figure from the past, now able to communicate with modern generations only through the distorted lens of history. If you think journalists are bad, wait until you meet historians!

Now, Daniel Ruddy has freed former President Theodore Roosevelt from these shackles and given him a chance to address us directly, articulating his view of American history without the varnish of modern historical fashion. In his new book "Theodore Roosevelt's History of the United States," Ruddy has mined the words of the great man and organized them into a newly created history of the U.S. up to the time of TR's death in 1919.
(Emphasis added)

That's it Newsmax, don't even bother to hide the fact that your cronies will recreate history instead of just reporting facts. Teddy himself would be rolling in his grave. And how about that phrase "...American history without the varnish of modern historical fashion."? What about Ruddy's 'varnish'? Probably more like a stain.

*Many thanks to Stephanie Miller for that phrase!

... Ruddy has mined the words of the great man ...
Ah, the wonders of quote-mining. I wonder if the author deals with Teddy Roosevelt's vigorous trust-busting battles? Somehow, I expect that ore is still there, untouched, in the mine.

"Imagine the frustration of a dead historical figure from the past," is a book-closer all by itself. Anyone who writes crap like that deserves no readers.

As long as they also include the bit with his justification for removing the words "In God We Trust" from the gold double eagles.

You know, the part where he objects to such a religious message on such a base item.

Teddy Roosevelt was also an avid supporter of the National Parks, but I doubt that will be much mentioned in the book.
