As a shift worker, sleep's important to me. I don't know much about it, but I do think too many people don't pay attention to their own needs for sleep.

If you think it's work, you're doing it wrong.

Agreed. As someone who has had his sleep dept catch up with him multiple times, I would say we ignore it far to often.

Badger.....

During the time I was living in Florida several years ago, I suffered from insomnia. I consulted a medical group specializing in sleep therapy. I had two sleep studies in their sleep laboratory. As a result of the sleep studies I received, sequentially, several medications. After several dosage adjustments, I made an accomodation to Ambien and significantly overcame the insomnia problem.

Today, most major hospitals in the US have sleep laboratories and specialists in sleep disorders. It has become a legitimate branch of modern medicine and I can commend the quality of the medical science from my own experience. If you are experiencing sleep problems and have health insurance, I would recommend you locate a sleep specialist in your area.

bngbuck, I don't have sleep issues. I somehow have developed the ability to sleep anywhere, any time. I've been doing shift work for 15 years, and it seems that those who can handle shiftwork are probably statistical outliers, with regards to any definition of normal sleep requirements or patterns.

The subject continues to fascinate me.

The show was good. If you missed it, go to skepticallyspeaking.com on Sunday after 12 pm MDT, and you can access an upload.

If you think it's work, you're doing it wrong.
