Dude.....
I'd find a way to resist through insurgency, or to escape. I'd risk my life, but only if I had a specific goal in mind that was both worthy and had a chance of success.

The constitutional right to free speech ends at my ennui threshold. If everyone had the same attitude, conversations would become far worthier than they currently are. Hell, we can get this sort of highfalutin' noise from any jack-leg politician running a snowjob on the populace. Of either party. Endlessly.
No, I will not burn Alice in Wonderland. It is a favorite work, indeed, a timeless fantasy, and I will call holy jihad upon any scummy infidel who does.

Filthy.....
How about torching The Collected Works of Charles Fort as a protest to unbridled iconoclasm in an Enlightened Age of Science?
You would be a hero to many here, but the Fortean Society would undoubtedly arrange for your death by hard boiled eggs falling from the sky! Rides on the scooter would become problematical! |

The problem you are having following the conversation here... is not improved by you also being an asshole about it.
Because, seriously, while criticism can include a call for silence, it can also be the exact opposite of that, and any shade between. Like my criticism of you in the sort-of sentence just before this paragraph.

Sage advice from a master of restraint. Though I did detect a bit of passive aggression in the first part of the above quote. |

No, that's just me being a dick. Nothing passive about it.

Haven't seen it and so can't pass judgment on it. However, if it is that bad, then it's a blasphemy and not Alice at all. And yet, it would not be deserving of the fires. Even the foulest blasphemy is protected -- until it gets tedious.

I kinda liked it.
It wasn't Alice in Wonderland it was more like a sequel to the movie set 10 years after the book.
Quite interesting, really.
One book that I don't think you'd mind burning would be The White Man's Bible by an Illinois resident (and current guest of the penal system). |

Wait, is that the one with Johnny Depp? The cross between Alice and the Jabberwocky? I have seen it after all and, if looked at as a different story, it's pretty good. I especally liked the Bandersnatch.
There've been a quite a few productions of Alice made over the years. I think Hallmark made the best one. I also think that it was one of Disney's better efforts.
I hadn't heard of the White Man's Bible. I'll check it out.

Ok, I checked it out. It is just another pile of quasi-religious, Aryan drivel, lacking any sembelence of literary or historical value, and therefore can be desposed of in any way deemed suitable by it's owner. But I would not burn it; our atmosphere has enough crap in it already. I think I'd simply put it on a shelf in the privy to use for emergencys.
Here's an Amazon review: 5.0 out of 5 stars Sound [sic] a lot like the tea party manifesto, July 14, 2010 By Armando-Malwani "Seeker" (MN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The White Man's Bible (Paperback)
This book is must {sic} read for any tea party patriot. When I read Klassen's writing it sounds a lot like Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin talking. Essential reading for anyone who believe [sic] in the superiority of white people. This book should be adopted as the republican party's [sic] manifesto. We white aryan's [sic] want our country back. This book lays out the steps we can take to take our country back. After reading this book I understood where Sarah Palin got her wisdom from. |
Sad, philosophically as well as grammatically.....

Justice Stephen Breyer equates burning the Koran with shouting "fire" in a crowded theater.
And Ed Brayton comments.
