GOP lawmaker handcuffed for lurking with gun near abortion clinic

By Daniel Tencer
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 -- 9:36 pm

A Minnesota Republican lawmaker who was handcuffed and questioned by police after loitering with a gun near a Planned Parenthood clinic has been stripped of his leadership roles in the Minnesota House.

Security cameras recorded State House Rep. Tom Hackbarth as he was stopped by police last week after a security guard at a Planned Parenthood location in St. Paul called to report a man loitering with a handgun visible at his side.

Hackbarth, who was not arrested and has a concealed-carry permit, says it was all a big misunderstanding. He told police he was looking for a woman he met online.

"Officers at the scene, however, suspected him of 'stalking-like behavior' and borderline 'harassment or terroristic threats,' so they hung on to his weapon," the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports.

Hockbarth says the woman had told him she was having dinner with a female friend in the city's Highland Park area. Suspicious she may be seeing other men, Hockbarth says he went to Highland Park to look for her. He says he doesn't know the area and didn't realize he had parked in a Planned Parenthood parking lot.

According to NBC affiliate KARE, Hockbarth could not provide police with a phone number or address for the woman in question, nor could he provide an email address. He could only identify her as "Linda."

The state GOP caucus says Hockbarth's suspension from his leadership roles on House committees will remain in place until the issue is resolved. There are no charges pending the lawmaker, who was released by police after questioning.

Yeah, it smells a little fishy to me, too.

Anyhow, if you're gonna carry, you need to pay attention. There are places where you have to leave your shoot in the car or at home. Here in NC, that episode could have cost Hackbarth his gun and his permit, and possibly gotten him at least a misdemeanor charge in the bargain -- depending on the cop and how pissed he was at the time. It could also gotten him shot. As it is, according to the story, he's not gotten his pistol returned and has been kicked off his committees by panic-stricken Republicans. I doubt that his wife and kids are all that amused, either.

Big-time loser, this turkey.

Same in FL. You carry in the wrong place and you are going to find yourself regretting it in a big way if they catch you.

As for this moron.... concealed carry means concealed, and if you are stupid enough to let your steel show (especially in the parking lot of a place where they have to protect themselves from the crazies), you should expect to lose the right to carry.

You can also get this stupid:
Never Call The Cops With A Consumer Complaint About Your Hooker

The next time Ryan McNames wants to lodge a consumer complaint, he’ll know better than to call the Columbia Police Department.

The Missouri man, 19, dialed cops Saturday night to report that he paid $60 to a pair of prostitutes to perform sexual acts for him. As McNames described it, the deal called for one woman to show him her breasts, while the other would perform oral sex on him in the living room of his mobile home at the Columbia Regency Trailer Court.

While “the first woman showed him her chest,” police reported, the second hooker “took the $60 without holding up her end of the deal (oral sex).” The pair then “jumped in their car and left,” according to a police press release. That’s when McNames made the mistake of calling cops to report that he was a larceny victim.

Is that pathetic, or what?
