Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Damn Sam, but that guy is just too handsome to shoot! Go eat a chicken instead.

Never mind.

Anyhow, do not succumb to glottony except for maybe a little bit.

Thanks filthy. I am not big on dino meat (even though I'm pretty good at cooking the stuff), but I love the sides. And screw it. This is the day for glottony! No holiday has any value to me if it doesn't come with a good meal!

My assignment for this year is the dressing and creamed spinach. Easy...

But they're also so stupid that we're doing them a favour by eating them.

Never hunted wild turkeys, eh? They're a lot smarter than most people realize. It's that over-bred, sickly-looking, corporate-farmed and chemically-infused, honky turkey, the one that the prez has to pardon each year (why?), that lacks smarts. That one is a turkey only by the loosest definition possible and deserving of the scorn heaped upon it merely by it's existence.

Wild turkeys, on the other hand, are a joy to behold. I occasionally see one or two in the woods behind the house. This winter, I'm going throw out some whole corn for them -- to the disgust of my younger daughter's chickens -- in an attempt to get them in a little closer. It will probably fail, but the squirrels will love it.

White House Turkey Trot: A Children’s Treasury of Dumb Tradition

by Ken Layne

On this Thanksgiving Morning/Mourning, we want to remind Americans that all presidents have always looked like twits during the annual Turkey Pardon Photo Op — of course Barack Obama looked like an idiot pretending to care about that dumb bird headed to Disneyland. (This is exactly why Obama seems so bored dealing with unemployed/destroyed people; he thinks they are turkeys, too.) Anyway, here’s Harry Truman, reportedly forced by the National Turkey Federation to start the dumb tradition, thus ensuring that other popular Thanksgiving main courses of the time — ham, roast beast, parsnips, etc. — would fall by the wayside. The Turkey Industry was the General Motors Bailout of 1947.
