Pathetic moron gets escorted out of town after an hour into what was to be something like a three hour slobber.
DEARBORN, Michigan (Reuters) - A controversial Florida pastor banned last week from protesting at a Detroit-area mosque on Friday cut short a demonstration at a city hall largely drowned out by counter-protesters.

Terry Jones, 59, had vowed to return this week, saying that his ban on demonstrating in front of the landmark Islamic Center of America in heavily muslim Dearborn had violated free speech protections of the Constitution.

"We are here today to speak out on issues that pertain to all American citizens," Jones said, using a wireless microphone at a podium set up at the top of the city hall steps.

Separate barricaded zones were created for Jones' protest on the steps of city hall and for counter-protesters across Michigan Avenue, a busy four-lane street. Jones' 75 supporters were outnumbered by about five-to-one.

Let us not forget that the citizens of Dearborn have First Amendment rights as well, and it is refreshing to see them vigorously exercising those rights. They righteously shut the bigoted blatherskite up and ran his sorry ass out of town.

We all know who Terry Jones is. He’s another of those super-Christians that litter history like some obsecne confetti, and seems to have taken on a near Phelpsian persona. He’s exchanged “Muslim” for “Faggot,” but he’ll probably get around to the gay folk soon enough. If he hasn’t already.

These fundamentalist boneheads on both sides of the, well, call it a debate, bemuse me. Don’t they realize that “Allah” and “Yahweh” are different bails on the same bucket and neither is worth fighting for because the bucket won‘t hold water, anyway?

that's the best way to handle these kind of people, instead of legally preventing them from speaking. I still wish some people had burned some bibles in front of him.

No, the "free speech zone" set up for Jones was a crushing defeat for the First Amendment. I despise the man's ideals, but he wasn't inciting riots or engaging in other illegal activities, so that his speech was restricted in any way is a bad thing.

yes they were both restricted. Obviously they should have removed the barricades, everything would have been so much more constitutional (and violent).

But at the same time, this is the idiot who managed to incite deadly violence in Afghanistan by torching a Quran.

I don’t have any problems at all with destroying any “sacred” texts by whatever means seems the most fun, but that was just a stupid (and successful) grab for the headlines. And now, he’s trying to keep on grabbing.

The up side is that he actually had to cut it way short. Therein lies Dearborn’s blessing, and our own.

But I have no doubt that we have yet to hear the last of our Terry. I look for him to pop back up like a malignant and unwelcome toad stool in the garden, soon. Then he’ll puff & posture, and cause some police department or other a bundle of headaches, if not worse.
