Though actually a decent enough person, the name associated with this face is a near-synonym for "hoax" or "flim-flam." |

Ah. Well then it must be P.T. Barnum. |

| You are correct, Maestro! Kudos to you!
There are hundreds of wonderful stories about P.T. Barnum. He was mainly an entertainer, but to sell tickets to his American Museum and his circus, he perpetrated hoaxes and deceptions, and exploited human "freaks" without batting an eyelash. Yet Barnum personally treated his freaks with respect. When he was old and bankrupt, several of them banded together to raise money to help him out.
I've got a sort of love-hate thing for Barnum, personally.

| I, along with some other musicians, wrote a rock musical about Barnum. Every producer we showed it to loved it. But they all demanded a stage play, and we saw it as a concept album. We were also unknowns, so it was never produced. A year later a stage musical showed up on Broadway with our title "Barnum" and a very different story, with music. I think our concept was stolen. But because the songs were not the same, and you can't copyright a persons name, there was nothing we could do about it.
Our songs and the story were darker than what showed up in the stage play. But all in all I think our stuff, on an artistic level, was way better than what was produced.
That's show biz. |

Fascinating, Kil. I'm sorry yours wasn't the "Barnum" that was produced! |
