Hint #4: This person is a geologist. She's also busy culling the news for stories that make you go, "hmmmm."

Congratulations, OFfC! You are of course correct.

Sharon Hill (aka “I Doubt It”) has written on skeptical subjects since 2006 at her "Doubtful: Exposing sham inquiry and 'sciencey' sounding claims" blog. (See Hint #2.) Sharon also blogs at CSI's "Sounds Sciencey". Yet another site run by Sharon is Doubtful News, a regularly updated compendium of unlikely news items.

Her latest entry at both sites was on the subject of how Bigfoot enthusiasts go about their data collection and how they police their discussion groups to exclude even the politest of skeptics.

(My own theory on the Bigfoot brouhaha is that it's all a wonderfully successful scheme by sly country hicks to exploit and laugh at urban New Age people.)

Now, Kil will doubtless pipe up with his own words, and perhaps a photo of himself posing with Sharon at TAM . . . ?

Heh. I looked through my photos. Oddly, I have no picture with me and Sharon Hill. I did meet her at the TAM8 pre-event Drinking Skeptically.

What gets me about her is how prolific she is. Doubtful News is often updated several times a day, and there is always a comment by either Hill or the other person who works that site, Torkel Ødegård, out of Norway. Given what it takes to put together an Evil Pick for our summary, it kind of blows my mind that even two people have the time to get out that much information on a regular basis. Doubtful News has become a regular link in the Elsewhere in the World section of our summary too. And before that I featured it as an Evil Pick back in the SFN Skeptic Summary #343. I also have each update emailed to me by signing up in their Follow us! page. I highly recommend doing that because there is so much interesting news posted on Doubtful News, and I don't have time to visit all blogs of interest to me every day.

She also occasionally adds her voice to the JREF's Swift blog. And she still finds time to be a working Geologist.

If I make it to TAM this year, and that's becoming a big IF due to a lack of funds, I'll make sure to get her into one of my "fan" photos. Because I am a fan.
