Looks like there was quite a good turnout at a protest in Ottawa, as defenders of science let the government know that what they are doing is undemocratic and anti-science: Article on Larry Moran's blog

Looks great! (The cops seem rather relaxed, assuming bike shorts are not riot gear in Canada. Not too worried about banks being trashed?) |

It's not like they are facing unreasonable people like the Black Bloc anarchists or Bloc Quebecois. |

| I know this was more about the protest in Ottawa, but this sentence left me with wanting to know more about the kinds of nonsense being promoted by Stephen Harper and his government. I hope to have more time later tonight.
The current Canadian government is famous for ignoring science and evidence on many issues.

Rat, I had not understood until now just how dangerous your situation is in Canada. Sorry I was not more serious earlier!
The guy who's slashing basic research, Minister of State for Science and Technology Gary Goodyear, is both a Chiropractor and a Creationist. This is a real bummer of a situation, with an anti-science fox like that in charge of of the science chicken coop. And he's doing just what one would expect of such irrational morons. |

| Their dress would have been full riot gear if the government felt it necessary to send their provocateurs. The police's attire is always the tip off. Like hippies trying to buy drugs at a Greatful Dead concerts wearing wingtip shoes. |
