Best introduction to the distinction between scientific medicine and new age quackery evah.

Tim Minchin's lyrics are like well-researched zingers on steroids, except they don't cause scrotal shrinkage. This piece even rhymes and is funny as Hell. Tim Minchin is a surprising polymath. Musician, singer, composer, lyricist, beat poet, freethinker, comedian, and (for someone in show-biz) an amazingly well-informed scientific skeptic. "Storm" was an instant classic.

I certainly agree.

Same thing with him on stage, I might prefer the un-animated version

A particular favorite segment for me starts @ 3:54.
By definition, I begin.
Alternative medicine, I continue, has either not been proved to work. Or, been proven not to work!
Do you know what they call medicine that has been proven to work??
MEDICINE!!!
That, right there, is worth repeating. Every time medical woo is raised by a proponent. I know I have, .
It's perfect and concise. Some may consider it stealing.
I consider it,,, spreading the wealth.

This may be pointless to interject, but regarding Moore's Law: I suspect that reducing a transistor down to atomic granularity is not possible. Based on the theory of#65279; how transistors function, we can expect molecular (elemental or compounded) level at the finest granularity.

Yes! Absolutely you have a valid point and are correct vikashbubble. As I understand it that is what we should expect from the study of matter. When we start getting down to the Nanoscale with "Matter" it no longer behaves as it does normally on larger scales or in greater masses. This is the size or scale where the so-called "quantum effect" rules the behavior and materials properties change significantly from those at larger scales.

So just as you suspect there is a limit to the reduction in size that a transistor, for example,Even trying can be reduced and still function as it does on larger scales. However with matters' change in behavior, that does not necessarily rule out going below the scale or size which we are operating now or into the nanocale. As we explore and understand more what the changes in behavior are, it could be expected new ways of taking advantage of those changes in behavior should come into play. What is beyond that is anybody's guess because that is the unknown beyond the unknown. When it comes to drawing opinions about the unknown it is very easy to make an ass of one's self which we can observe when done by others. So we should expect that opinions about the unknown beyond the unknown are likely guaranteed to be wrong.

That said, I could be wrong.
