Hi,guys! What router do you use at home or in your office? My internet has been acting up this days and i think it maybe due to my router. I need a router that can provide same access to users and filter internet traffic with Cloud Proxy, avoiding the need to centralize all traffic. Do you guys know something like this? Please do let me know. Thanks! :)

Sorry, I can't help you. My own set-up is an internal network, with a PC acting as a gateway to Internet as well as a web- and network storage server. No Cloud Proxy or stuff like that. Just a few Netgear routers at select places to knit the Intranet together.
My experience is that D-Link sucks, so my advice is: stay away from D-Link. Netgear and 3Com has been playing nicely in my net, and a friend recommends LinkSys. Then there's Cisco. |

I guess my previous experience with Dlink is not an isolated one after all. Anyway, I am looking into Aerohive . I have read quite a number of both positive and negative reviews. Anyone who have a first hand experience using this provider?

I don't want to seem to feign any real expertise in routers, but I would caution against buying any new router until I'd first checked out simpler and cheaper ameliorative alternatives. Especially cables, their connections, etc. Indeed, however, bad routers can cause lousy Internet connections. After increasingly bad (intermittent and/or slow) service for a year over DSL, my local phone service here in the Philippines finally owned up to the fact that all their DSL modem/routers had bad firmware from the manufacturer, and replaced them all. |
