Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

Sure you have! You said, "the first one."

Of course, if you're referring to the ability to select one post from among all of the posts we get here in a month, you don't have to. Feel free to nominate more than one. Feel free to nominate dozens, if you find them all more-or-less equally noteworthy. Feel free to "de-nominate" your own prior nominations, if you find one (or some) later in the month which blow away your previous choices.

We (the SFN staff) are not asking you to choose the best post and thread of the month, only to nominate the candidates. We will be making the final picks.

(And if you weren't referring to that, I still felt a need to publicly clarify the purpose of the nominating process, anyway.)

Ah, I see. I am quite impressed by Dude's recent research on the quack who's name I can't pronunce let alone spell, as well.

What I meant is that I don't know how to select an individual post out of, say, the middle of a thread other that cut & past it.

I could post instructions, if you'd like, but for the purposes of nominations, "first post," "second post," etc. is good enough, or cut-and-paste the date and time from the post in question. Those would both be fine ways to identify a particular post from within a page-full.

Topic of the Month: The Law of Perception - Assertions about Einstein and relativity don’t seem to stand up well to pointed questioning.

Post of the Month: Testing a Dowser - furshur successfully took an example from real life to use as a point-by-point reference when examining the “new scepticism” from Mr. Drasin’s list, as latinjral suggested.

[As soon as we develop a nice graphic for PotM, we'll use it.]
