YO: I just read the headline that Senator McCain said it's safe to walk some streets in Baghdad. It compelled me to avoid the absurdity of such a statement and write this, if not completely original item, to maintain my grounding. Enjoy.
From the Orwellingly Yurz Reader
(Florida City, Florida)---Senator John McCain announced today that placing one's head in the jaws of some alligators is safe. The Arizona Republican made the remark as he was stumping part of the Florida Everglades. Presidential candidate McCain said, “there have been many instances throughout the Sunshine State's history where brave men have demonstrated there are some of these reptiles in this great swamp that aren't nearly as tough as they act and that showing off their sharp teeth is not necessarily as fearsome as popularly held.”
Candidate McCain's campaign made just two brief stops in south Florida along State Road 9336---the only access into the Everglades--- which runs from Florida City to the coast at Flamingo. Senator McCain's entourage had no encounters with alligators across the 47 miles route.
Meanwhile, crocodile hunter Steve Irwin's widow, Terri was seen at lunch in Sidney, Australia Saturday with American Fox News television journalist, Giraldo Rivera. An Australian representative of Fox News Channel indicated that Mr. Rivera gave a statement to the Sidney Daily Earth that his visit Down Under to negotiate some kind of agreement with Mrs. Irwin for the Truth-On-Television documentarian to host and produce a program on the menace of sting rays in the Queensland region “is just so much pork pie.”
