I ask yet again, how much of China's current power consumption is supplied by wind? How about projected in 5 years? Compare this to their coal proliferation rate. At this point it is irrelevant.

Because they are exempt from it's restrictions.

To give a nod to international criticism of their environmental status would be my guess. Meanwhile 3 new coal fired power plants just went up. I know people who have been to China. They have said the air pollution in big cities is some of the worst in the world, and they still have 542 more new coal fired power plants to go.

"In the past couple of months, economic growth and related coal consumption has grown at such an unexpected rate," Birol was quoted as saying. China's rising emissions will effectively cancel out attempts by other countries to reduce their own, he said.
Those comments follow the weekend release of a Chinese government report detailing the costs of climate change but asserting that the country should focus on development before cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
quote: So get off of Al Gore's ass, and stop making shit up about China. Your ignorance and willingness to slander Al Gore add nothing to the conversation except to demonstrate that you are incapable of sustaining a rational discussion.
Name one thing that I made up against China. And you say I throw on my added spin?!?!?! You just took the prize with your China story. I find it sad that your trying to defend China in light of their massive contrabution to MMGW. I think your just upset because the US is no longer number 1 in this area so that now forces you to concentrate on China as archenemy #1 to Al's cause. |

Why am I getting involved in this again....? Just stoopid, I guess.
OK, I think that we can all agree that China & India is/are putting forth a world-class amount of stench into the atmosphere, right? I think that we can further agree that we ourselves, are rightously smutting up the place as well, yes? And yet further, we agree that something must be done soon or else, is that not so? We have also shown that, in some small way, most if not all of us are trying to help, true?
We agree right down the line then, so what the hell is all the shouting about?
Bill, you don't like Gore. So what; you don't have to like him, or anyone else, for that matter. Gore is at least trying to get something done and has to travel rapidly to do it. On his own dime, as far as I've been able to tell. Before I go after him, I would first look at the all of the unnesessary lallygagging around the government is doing on our dime and with our fuel. I could go on pointing out corporate polluters for an hour, but to what end? All I would be doing is waving my hands and belaboring the obvious.
So look, Bill, et al, don't tell me about the problem; I already know about that. Tell me about a solution because I don't have one beyond a vast political change in the world, which we all know ain't gonna happen until everybody's starving as the world's bread-baskets become no longer productive. And that is an scenero that will really stink. It could turn out like London during the Plague, when bodies not only went unburied but uncollected as well.
