Anyone who uses Skype or similar messaging tools and who is occasionally "visible" has probably been targeted at some time or other, but this one amused me this afternoon, so I thought I'd post it. (The names have been changed to protect the dodgy)

MLMGuy says:

Hi John,

My compliments on your resume. Noticed you are located in Australia and would appreciate your help.

I am involved in business development for a US based multinational known as Photomax.

We market a line of online digital photography services designed for non-technical consumers.

Photomax will soon rollout this technology in Australia.

To spearhead this expansion, I am looking for a Sydney or Melbourne resident who is entrepreneurial and open to new business opportunity.

Complete training and on the ground support will be provided by Photomax.

Your help in making contact with suitable individuals would be much appreciated.

[5:31:46 PM] John says:

You read my resume where, may I ask?

Is your opportunity this:

How has your experience been so far, a few different views are expressed here:

[5:50:08 PM] MLMguy says: hi john....thanks for your message. my reference to resume may have been confusing. "skype profile" is more to the point.
[5:50:37 PM] MLMguy says: yes, we are photomax, a division on nu skin enterprises.
[5:54:16 PM] MLMguy says: i don't pay much mind to blog sites. spent a couple of secs on scam.com. found 1 person blaming his failure on photomax & several others bashing him for false accusations.
[5:54:21 PM] MLMguy says: any ideas?

[5:56:03 PM] John says: Not really, I've seen plenty of MLM stuff before. I'm not convinced it's the best business model for moving quality product.

It tends to reward those good at recruiting / deception, or just getting in early, while hiding the product itself much of the time.

[5:59:06 PM] MLMguy says: i know where you are coming from. alot of deception out there.

[6:00:21 PM] John says: How about the product itself. I work in technology, so you can be as specific as you like. Care to sum it up for me?

[6:08:24 PM] MLMguy says:

will keep it nontechnical if ok with you.

[6:08:39 PM] MLMguy cuts and pastes:

Photomax is a photo website with several features unique to the industry which are described below. Further details are available on our US website www.photomax.com.

Photomax provides a line of online digital photography services designed for non-technical consumers.

We concentrate on extreme ease of use. Our Photosaver & Digital Developer are unique ways of preserving photos online. MovieMagic transforms photos into movies.

Our Maxcast video broadcasting technology provides the home video consumer & small business market with the same technology that Fox TV, ABC & Disney now use to deliver full length TV programs & movies online without buffering delay. Your audience can watch long form video buffering free from your email, website or personal internet video broadcast channel.

[6:09:18 PM] John says: OK Thanks
[6:09:37 PM] John says: I'll have a read, happy recruiting.

Edited to fix all the names, thanks Dave. Not that it was a truly secret identity anyway, and I doubt any regular of SFN would be malicious, but I've no desire to have some tool sue me for negatively impacting his business.

John's just this guy, you know.

My friend is very into an MLM called Bio Performance, its a fuel additive which relys solely on personal testimonials as proof of function.

I think you missed a couple instances of MLMguy's name, John.
