I'm a big fan of Rahoi.com, but that site doesn't update its contents very often, and expends too much effort on intelligent discourse. This one, Engrish.com, has plenty of just what I want. It's got plenty of fun images, with no thought-provoking buzz-kill. At last an alternative dealer to feed my addiction!

Here's a stolen example:

Excellent! Here's another from this site:

I go to engrish.com, and what ad do I see at the bottom? Dawrin Awards DVD. Way cool.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Here is one I grabbed while on a sort of photography scavenger hunt a few years ago. While I take no responsibility for the sign itself, this is my origional photo in all it's glory...

Seems a fellow ought to be required to take history and English classes.

Then there's this one from Engrish.com:

The site's caption:Caution: sailors have been at sea too long...

My guess is that one's been modified, Half. You're the touch-up expert, but the dithering around the letters doesn't look like normal jpeg artefacts to me.

It's still funny.

The Engrish.com site seems to take authenticity pretty seriously, judging from their FAQ page. Here's another page that shows the same image of the Titan Uranus, but larger:

http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2006/titan-uranus-p1.php

I honestly don't see any Photoshopping artifacts, but I can be fooled, too. BTW, Uranus was one of the Titans.

Here's a link to an article about the ship's odd name, at CargoLaw:

"Big Adam" over on these forums claims to have worked for the shipping company that owns that boat.

Ok. But when I'm wrong, I like to be completely wrong.

30 seconds of research had me convinced that the name itself wasn't a fake, but something about the image still bugged me. I went looking for a bunch of pics of ship hulls and blew 'em up enough to see the artifacts.

I still think the artefacts on the original are somewhat odd, but concede that they're not odd enough to indicate subterfuge.

All the images above are at 400% of the originals.

Theory sunk. Blub. Blub.
