How about a forum for all of the best topics from all forums so that the really great discussions don't get lost?

Wouldn't that take up too much space?
And who would decide what's best?
How would they get lost? You do back up stuff, right?

Maybe you could post a clearly visible note for new people or those that don't know or think about getting to the list of all the topics. You know that thing at the bottom of these pages that folds out to see ALL the topics. They they could see any topic they want. Just one mans opinion!

Snake has some good questions. How many can we pick and how do we pick them? Maybe nominations and then you can set up a poll for each forum?

Yes, I was thinking of a nomination and vote process. Then just move the topics over to the Hall of Fame. That way they would stand out more is my thinking.

Only some?
Ok, I won't push it, no one ever thinks I'm right.
Actually @, that is a good idea but I thought there's only so much space on a web site...that shows you how much I know about the Internet.
Oh, Oh....I just got an idea, how about putting a large red (or color of your choice) astrick by the outstanding topics and it could be a fun game to either come across them or look for them as they are now, in the folders.

The Hall of Fame takes up no additional room because the topics would be moved. When I say moved it's not in a physical sense but a virtual one. Say I moved this topic to Announcements. It would be gone from here and thereafter reside in Announcements. You see?

Could you make it so that one could acces it from both it's original location and the 'hall of fame'?

Just moving it could cause problems when trying to look up older topics.

I don't know if anybody out there is actually bookmarking forum pages or linking directly to them, but it could disrupt those, too.

Actually, all that is needed for a bookmark is this: http://www.skepticfriends.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=844

The rest is going away soon with the next forum upgrade anyway and bookmarking is one of the reasons for the change. The next version will also have an archiving feature that will further change the URL.

The search feature will help find anything as it is but I am pretty sure that you can't duplicate a topic.

Another option is for me to create a Forum with a single topic where I enter the bookmarks for selected topics but lock it so that only admin or moderators may add new Hall of Fame winners.

How does that sound?

Ahhhh! Yes, I see!
(thought you meant keep them in the same folder AND have a special other folder).
OK.

That don't sound like a bad idea, @.

Snake, that's just copying a file/folder/thread/whatever.
