Hi! marfknox, "It is an Artist's dream to sell to art lovers, who are simply blown away by your art." I can certainly understand you wishing to do that. I wish you the best of luck with it.
I didn't notice the time relationship between my post's and everyone else's until after I had posted. I'm a tad out of sync with you guys.
Anyway, hope my comments weren't out of place. Cheers for now, bruce.

I might end up coming over to you guy's opinion on the pricing. I'm reading a book called How to Survive and Prosper as an Artist and the section on pricing says that artists usually undercut themselves and it also advices to charge the retail price (adding on what a gallery would take - which is 40-50%) even when the artist is selling it out of their own studio. I see the logic in that; it keeps prices more consistent.
Edited to add: I'm also probably just selling myself short by not wanting to use the "good investment" line. There is no reason for me to think it wouldn't be a good investment given that I have every intention to keep making and showing art for the rest of my life. |

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell |
