Indeed! They more resemble the traditional mainline sects than Mormons do, but what do you bet Mormons are checking "Christianity".

The grouping of religion is done by two categories:

1. Shared beliefs.
2. How God damn annoying they are.

In that sense, Jehovah's Witnesses could only be grouped with the militant agnostics, but their beliefs are just too different.

Edited to add: Voting twice from the same IP does not increase the vote count, although they make it look like it went through successfully.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Well, even the 6% reporting as atheist, when the atheist Web sites were just starting to jigger things, was pretty damned good. I'm guessing that might roughly indicate somewhere around 10 to 15 million atheists in the US.

I like the fact that we atheists have the power to organize something like that voting. After all, the "jiggering" was just vote casting, not a Diebold-type voting fraud. We got out the votes, the theists didn't. There's a lesson there, as we just begin to throw our numbers around. It's a heady feeling.

And yes, the categories were totally silly. Must'a been written by a summer intern who was stoned at the time.

This poll's been jiggered.
What? You mean Larry doesn't really have a disproportionate atheist fan base?

Odd: Percentage-wise, Atheism and Judaism are down, but nothing's up. Are people losing faith and even their faithlessness?

Which religion do you associate with?
Christianity 14% 3276
Judaism 3% 797
Islam 1% 328
Buddhism 1% 125
Hinduism 0% 80
Jehovah's Witnesses 1% 181
Atheism 71% 16231
Agnostic 3% 761
I am spiritual, but of no religion 3% 732
Mine's not listed 1% 286
Total Votes: 22797

Rounding errors, Half. Add up the percentages you quoted, and you get 98%.

As of almost 21:00 here on the East coast, and Christianity has bumped back up to 15%.

As of 23:05 or so:
Christianity 16% 4336
Judaism 3% 877
Islam 1% 364
Buddhism 1% 152
Hinduism 0% 100
Jehovah's Witnesses 1% 197
Atheism 69% 18473
Agnostic 4% 977
I am spiritual, but of no religion 4% 959
Mine's not listed 1% 369
---------------------------------------------
Total Votes: 26804
Seems like the atheist zeal for skewing the poll is dropping, allowing the Christians to catch up, a little.

Not much, though. They Christies must not be very well organized, eh?

More likely its one guy running a script to spam the poll.

71% atheists? This is probably the devil's work. Let's pray.

Dang, they've changed the poll.

Hey, let's see if we can't get "Zoolander" to the number-one spot on this one!
